So I dunno if anyone has thought of this theory with the whole Ralsei asking us how Susie’s doing but I wanna put in my two cents.
But what if Ralsei wants us to view Susie doing nice things for a reason, being a character we could trust in doing the right thing (and being very lovable)
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
I could easily see Ralsei talking about Susie
‘So that’s why… it has to be Susie‘
Something to that extend
I don’t have any ideas on why, it just feels like Susie is going to grow more and more into a hero with each chapter, someone we root for, someone the player wants to side with
My theory is that Ralsei is telling Kris that Susie is going to be their last hope in something or that she’ll be the one give the final choice in something?
Anyway, that was my rambling on a theory that just popped in my head XD
I just thought of something else that might go with this? Maybe?
From Clamgirl in undertale (and you guys should know and her being a goner and Gaster and blah blah blah)
Seems like we’re being sliiiightly pushed into being friends with Susie, like she’s SUPER important in something later
Yes, she’s a destined hero like Kris and Ralsei, but I feel like her real role is not yet known…
Hey, I have a question stemming from the most recent splatoon band lore. My understanding is that a) Shiver is an Octoling b) Octolings did not live on the surface until recently and yet c) Deep cut knew (of) each other as kids. Am I missing something, because I can't figure out how all of these things can be true at the same time.
I’ve seen some confusion floating about and I’ve gotten a few asks about this exact thing, so I think its about time I made a little write up about it. the fault here is in point b. The truth is: In Inkadia, Octolings did not openly live on the surface until recently.
Meaning that -outside of Inkadia, there were Octolings living freely. -within Inkadia, there were Octolings living in Inkopolis in secret, before the events of Octo Expansion, and even before Marina left the army. For the first point…the band Diss-Pair!
its mentioned in the Haikara Walker artbook that Ikkan met Warabi overseas, as in outside of Inkadia. it’s mentioned in Warabi’s bio that his parents (presumably octolings!) are famous actors, and that Warabi has toured around many different countries. (source)
And more importantly…
Massive floods were the catalyst for the Great Turf War, with habitable land being an already scarce resource. Deep Cut’s ancestors used their clan’s powers to create a whirlpool that drained the floods and saved their homeland. (ENG just says the ‘3 lights consumed the disaster’ but JP states they made a whirlpool. with the Eiffel tower’s presence and all the debris in the crater…could it be the floodwater drained into Alterna?)
So what happens if there’s no flood? No war, no octarian exile. I doubt Shiver’s clan is the only long standing family of Octolings living freely in that area. after all, Octolings and Inklings living in harmony was the norm before the war.
I’m thinking that the Great Turf War was limited to inkadia… Or its something like the great floods affected various parts of the world, and the GTW was actually a world war, and battles broke out globally. Regardless, not everywhere had such battles between inklings and octolings, such as the Splatlands. (I’m leaning towards it being an inkadia-only thing, but we know next to nothing about the rest of splatoon’s earth right now) Note how far the GTW craters are from the Splatsville. (hi res)
as for Octarians other than Marina living in Inkadia before OE…there’s tidbit that implies this.
In Haikara Walker, there’s an article about the Inkopolis Backstreets (the s2 tutorial area). It was the center of Inkopolis street fashion culture before Inkopolis plaza took the stage. So at least prior to ME 2014. The article is written in-universe by an author who personally experienced this change in culture over the years. (you can read it here) At the end, it is revealed the author is an adult octoling wearing a hat and mask to cover some Octarian traits.
(It’s just a reused player model. but interesting to think about…woody kawahagi, what is your origin story?)
There’s one little detail during the final boss battle of Splatoon 3 (well several, actually) that’s lost in translation
You see there’s a specific phrase associated with the Calamari Inkantation in Japanese, “to hear it is heaven, to sing it is paradise”
Cap’n Cuttlefish says it when he hears the Inkantation during the final boss of Splatoon 1:
And Marie and Callie say each half it respectively when the former helps
the latter regain her memories during the final boss of Splatoon 2:
In Splatoon 3′s final battle, the phrase returns once again, where this time Cuttlefish starts with the first half, and DJ Octavio finishes it with the second half:
Now, the English localizations usually adapt this phrase with “That heavenly melody (the one and only)”, and they did have Octavio say it in 3-
But what get’s lost is the fact that, originally, Cuttlefish and Octavio were saying it together in 3, which is nice to see, given their history and all
(The Japanese phrase also generally seems a bit more profound, but the localizers probably couldn’t have guessed it’d become such a recurring thing when they were working on 1, so yeah)
I’ve been wondering, what was so different about the timeline Frisk fell in that they were even able to fall? Flowey went through hundreds of resets without them, and their first appearance broke his control over the timeline instantly.
I think the reason Frisk’s timeline went on longer than all the others was related to this event…
Flowey recounts this story with puzzlement and some hesitation.
Toriel remembers this event - which means it happened on Frisk’s timeline.
We know this meant something to Flowey because he leaves a glass of water for her after putting her back to bed. This, when he’s killed her multiple times.
Flowey may have let this timeline go on longer than all the other ones because Toriel saw her son in Flowey, without having to be told, and he still doesn’t understand why, so he put off resetting the timeline long enough for Frisk to fall.
The Toni Kensa twitter post remined me of hearing about how Marie has some sort of connection to it. Was there anything to that? I can't remember where I heard it
Marie’s kimono has the Kensaki clan family crest. Toni Kensa’s JP name is Tataki Kensaki. this is where the theory they’re related come from.
beyond this nothing has been confirmed about the 2 being related, and for all we know, the splatoon team could just be reusing the ‘kensaki’ name twice. so for now it remains a theory. a game th
Twice now, Ralsei pulls Kris aside and asks them to think about what Susie’s doing.
People have theorized this is to “get alone time away from the Player”, but I think he actually does this because he’s trying to communicate something about Susie to Kris.
“Astral Projection”?
Both Kris and Ralsei act like they’re viewing/have viewed Susie’s scenes.
In Chapter 2, Ralsei is alright with Kris not viewing Susie’s scene if they’re not interested.
If doing the Snowgrave route, Kris will skip Susie’s scene by themself, and Ralsei, after initially being flustered, will say, “As long as Susie’s happy”.
